Shreveport Water Works Museum

Showcasing Shreveport's first municipal water plant which was built in 1887. Area citizens did not receive municipal water for their homes and businesses for almost 50 years. The new water works provided the clean water the city needed to grow using steam-powered pumps and technology that was cutting edge for the time. These pumps continued to operate until 1980. Group tours welcome by appointment.
